One of the main goals of CELA e.V. is to strengthen the understanding of the respective Chinese, European and other legal cultures worldwide especially among young practitioners.

For this reason, CELA e.V. has fostered the creation of “Young CEAC” from the very beginning of the initiation process for a Chinese European Arbitration Centre. Young CEAC will give young lawyers, inhouse counsel and professors as well as students and trainees the possibility to get involved in China-related arbitration issues at an early stage in their career. Young CEAC members of CELA e.V. may make use of educational offers such as seminars or special Young CEAC conferences. Furthermore, it is intended that Young CEAC becomes a platform for the networking of such future experts and will be used as a means of communication and exchange by young practitioners thus promoting cultural, legal and personal exchange between China, Europe and the world.

For that reason, CELA e.V. is not only particularly inviting young lawyers to join its organisation but is also offering special membership terms to them. Young lawyers, inhouse counsel and professors during their first eight years of practice or teaching, as well as students, are exempt from membership fees. After eight years of practice or teaching, membership in the CELA e.V. as Young CEAC Member automatically turns into a regular membership in CELA e.V. according to the Fee Schedule applicable in the respective year unless the member objects.

In doing so, CELA e.V. hopes to help to raise a new generation of lawyers who are familiar with the needs of both European and Chinese companies as well as companies world-wide when it comes to negotiation and dispute settlement, who have a broad understanding in arbitration and contribute to CEAC’s success with their knowledge, esprit and enthusiasm.
